P&G 's New Chief.
Twelve CEOS in 172 years is what you call stable. The Cincinnati-based household goods and marketing giant has long been admired and envied all over the world. And, consistent with its reputation for having a loyal, focused, and nearly cult-like corporate marketing and sales culture, these folks do like to train, grow and promote their own. Robert A. McDonald, the heir apparent, has been at Procter & Gamble (NYSE: PG) for 29 years. McDonald will replace the nationally well-regarded A.G. Lafley, who turns 62 this week. Following a long-observed P&G pattern in its changing of the guard, Lafley will stay on as board chairman. He served as CEO for nine years. See the Cincinnati Enquirer and The Wall Street Journal.
