Missing Bill’s Pluck.

I am not too ideological. I simply like people. On the Hill I worked for a hardworkIng liberal Dem Senator focused on natural resources issues and later for a GOP House member admired for his intellect on money issues. Yes, I do like the workhorses. And so I miss WIliam Jefferson Clinton as POTUS. Like him or not—and I always did—there were three constants with him: 1. Bill Clinton was prepared; he always came ready to play, 2. He had boundless energy, and apparently needed little or no sleep. 3. Finally, and most importantly, Clinton knew both Americans and America; it was not merely a theory. No other president in my lifetime came even close to Bill Clinton in having both down. I admired Barrack Obama in many respects—I voted for him in 2012—but he was virtually (and ironically) clueless about most Americans. Obama had no idea of our range and diversity, was likely a secret snob toward 95% of us for all 8 years and unfortunately signaled that a lot. I liked Obama much better as an legal academic or a future federal judge. An outstanding man who didn’t know beans about Americans.
