While his less flamboyant Eton and Oxford schoolmate Prime Minister David Cameron finishes his 3-day tour of India, London Mayor Boris Johnson revels in London's growing role as the country's chief economic engine, while England's once-strong northern regions have fallen behind. Johnson, everyone agrees, is a major piece of ruling class work who only occasionally trips over his patrician roots. A man of the people--but then not--he makes news every day. He has been an activist mayor, popular with Londoners of all classes. Expect to see him as PM some day.
